Classroom Birthday Board

This was today's project in my classroom. I wish I could say that I'm such a planner that I knew this is exactly what I was going to do when I started but alas I'm not! I was inspired by the greatest teaching tool  distraction, Pinterest! All over Pinterest I have been seeing the super cute Birthday displays that show the months of the year with the kiddos pictures taken & placed under their birthday month.

I started with that idea but decided I wanted something a little more "Pre-K"-ish in addition to the pictures so I started cutting construction paper and broke out the yarn! My little people at the top are made out of construction paper, yarn, google eyes, and a birthday crown.

Many thanks to a quick TPT search to find a free month-to-month label set. I minimized the set before I printed so that they would be smaller. I think I printed the labels at 60%. Many thanks to the super sweet One's teacher, Mrs. Shannon, across the hall from me! She saved me so much time by giving me some pre-cut & laminated balloons that she had and was not using anymore! It takes a village! Thank you Shannon :)

Behavior Management System

This evening I tried to finish up my newly "remodeled" behavior management chart system. I am happy with the way it turned out!

Milk Top Letter Tiles

My super incredible co-teacher Mrs. Britton and her family have been collecting milk tiles all summer. This evening, she and her two children created these super cute letter tiles out of their recycled goods!

I look forward to posting the many ways we use these this year!!

A Servant's Heart: Classroom Job Chart

This afternoon I worked to create my classroom job chart. After thinking about it for some time, I decided to call it "A Servant's Heart Chart" because I really want children to understand how important it is to serve others..so important that God's Word tells us to do so! Again, I am thankful to be teaching in a Christian school where I can talk about these things rather than just focusing on building a classroom community alone.  I created the images in both a small and large format. However, I could only figure out how to load one pdf file instead of two. If anyone knows any TPT tricks on loading two separate files..I would love to know!! I was also going to give away the first 10 downloads for free on TPT but after reviewing the Terms of Usage for the clip art, I realized that I have to buy a special clip art license to be able to "give" it away in my product. I am slowly learning the ropes of TPT and clip art terms of usage. Anyway, I am happy with the end results and would love to hear your thoughts! If you are interested in them, you can find them here.

Wildest Water Week Ever

My little boys help me tremendously when I plan for our pre-school lessons. They are 1 and 4 and I usually test my lessons out with them first!  I take note of their interactions to try to gauge where I need to be for my pre-k 3's. This week during the "Wildest Water Week Ever", we are having lots of wet, messy fun! Today we experimented with float and sink! I was so impressed how well they grasped the idea of sink and float! Here is one of my boys giving it a test run.

 Making Predictions....
 Trying it out...
This week we will also experiment with Freeze/Melt. One way we are going to play with the changes of  water is by freezing marbles in ice cube trays. Then, we will take them outside and have a race to see who can get their ice cube to melt first to get their marble out!

Into the freezer they go! My little helper was very excited to see what would happen!

We are learning about the stories of Jonah and the Whale, as well as, Noah and the Ark.
Here are some great Noah and the Ark resources by 123homeschool4me:

I had trouble finding as many resources for Jonah and the Great Fish, but here is one that I thought was pretty good.
